May 4, 2014 — The fourth Spring Onto Summer Food Drive on April 12 brought in approximately 31,000 pounds of food to help local food pantries better meet the increased demand for supplemental food expected during the summer. The figure is a composite of financial contributions made to the drive and actual food items donated. Pantries that received food donated through the drive were Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantries in Waco and Robinson, Salvation Army, Lake Shore Baptist Church and Caritas of Waco.
Food and financial donations were collected at area grocery stores. Participating schools included Harmony Science Academy, Crestview Elementary School, St. Mary’s School of West and Reicher Catholic High School.
