SAN MARCOS, December 29, 2013 - Grande Communications, a Texas-based broadband communications company that offers Internet, TV and phone services, announced today that its Grande Cares Club has donated over $26,000 to charitable organizations and events within the San Marcos area in 2013. The Grande Cares Club is an employee-based giving program within Grande Communications.
Through this program, Grande employees seek to enhance the communities where they provide service, and where they live, work and play. Across eight Texas cities in over 10 years, the Grande Cares Club has helped distribute over $2 million in the communities it services. "Grande has been committed to investing in our local community through charitable efforts for the past 13 years," Matt Rohre, vice president of retail operations for Grande Communications, said. "With our Grande Cares program, we strive to make a positive impact by contributing to the organizations that help our neighborhoods and people in need thrive." The 4th annual Pink Heels 5K Run/Walk and Summer in the Park 2013 are just two of the events that Grande supported this year through its charitable offerings.
The 5K raised funds for the Emergency Cancer Fund established by the Central Texas Medical Center and the Summer in the Park series supported the San Marcos Performing Arts Association. "We are proud to have passionate employees dedicated to being here for our customers and our local community in ways that make San Marcos a better places to live and work," Rohre said. Additional organizations that were beneficiaries to Grande's giving this year include Hays County Early Childhood Intervention-Homespun, Scheib Center, Mathworks at Texas State University, Family for Life, CTMC Hospice Care Family Grief Center Program, Hays-Caldwell Women's Center, San Marcos Bluebonnet Lions, Hays County Food Bank, School Fuel, Blue Santa of San Marcos, Brown Santa of Hays County, Georgia Street Activity Center and Southside Community Center.
