Grande Communications Adds Netflix as a Cable Channel

April 30, 2014Grande Communications Inc. subscribers in North Texas will be able to view Netflix programming, thanks to a partnership that the San Marcos-based cable provider has struck with the video service. Grande, Atlantic Broadband and RCN have joined in a partnership with Netflix Inc. that will allow the Netflix app to be integrated into the TiVo service along with Live TV, On Demand and other web content. Now customers can use their TiVo DVR to search and view commercial-free TV shows that Netflix offers such as House of Cards, Mad Men and Orange is the New Black.

The partnership eliminates the complexity of multiple boxes, remote controls, input ports and cables “The ability to seamlessly deliver new volumes of entertainment through industry leaders Netflix and TiVo is yet another way we are providing the best in customer convenience and satisfaction,” Jim Holanda, CEO at RCN and Grande, said in a statement. The move makes watching Netflix “as easy as changing the channel,” said David Isenberg, chief marketing and strategy officer, Atlantic Broadband. The new service will be available as early as April 28 at no additional charge to customers who subscribe to the TiVo DVR service through one of the partner companies.
